"The direction of using blue and red as point colors against a noir backdrop creates a connection point with the classic Spider-Man, and I thought this was a direction only you could have created. In keeping with the mood, the movement of Spider-Man and the car was not excessive, but restrained. It came across not as simple homage, but as a work of its own."

It starts from a character everyone knows and ends up somewhere entirely its own. That distance is what makes it a piece, not a tribute.
